New Designer Profile: Selah D’or

January 10, 2011

Launched in 2008, Boston based design label Selah D’or is inspired by J.R.R. Tolken’s thought that the seemingly common phrase (cellar door) has an “especially beautiful sound.” Designer David Chum kept this notion in mind when designing his Fall 2010 collection which is specifically based around pop culture’s current obsession with vampires and all things dark. Although he tends to steer away from using black in his work, David’s reliance on the color in this collection highlights his exceptional talent and taste. Featuring a dramatic juxtaposition of bold lines and feminine form, Selah D’or’s Fall 2010 collection proves that black doesn’t have to mean “basic.”
